About Us

For more than 50 years, NWTHS Behavioral Health has provided mental health treatment to individuals from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Colorado. Located on the campus of Northwest Texas Healthcare System in Amarillo, Texas, we offer treatment services for children, adolescents, adults, seniors and uniformed service members.

Whether you or a loved one are experiencing a mental health or substance abuse issue for the first time or have lived with this problem for many years, NWTHS Behavioral Health offers confidential, professional and compassionate care on an inpatient or outpatient basis.

Each individual’s treatment is overseen by a team of licensed mental health professionals including psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, nurses, clinical social workers, licensed professional counselors, and certified recreational therapists. Our structured treatment provides individuals with the skills to resolve crisis situations, develop self-awareness, learn coping skills, improve social skills and promote individual responsibility and autonomy.

The goal of treatment is to teach individuals to better manage their emotions, resolve grief over past traumas, express feelings, improve relationships and live their lives with purpose, direction and fulfillment.

NWTHS Behavioral Health is an approved HRSA Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Recovery (STAR) Loan Repayment Program.
