July 18, 2023 (Amarillo, TX) – Northwest Texas Healthcare System Behavioral Health opened its new Center for Mental Wellness at 121 Westgate Parkway with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on July 11th. The Center is a specialized clinic offering group therapies for those struggling with anxiety, depression, grief/loss, and trauma. 

According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) national statistics, one in five adults experience mental illness, 17% of youth (6-17 years) experience a mental health disorder and one in 20 adults experience serious mental illness. 

Locally, the 2022 United Way Community Status reports that the rate of death by suicide continues to be of concern. As the mental health needs of our community increase, NWTHS continues to identify and implement solutions for today’s health needs. 

The leadership team shared, “We are proud to offer our community a safe space to share their mental health journey with professionals who can help provide strategies and tactics as they find their way forward.”
